When our country turns to a festival season from the month of August, news from various companies like Infosys, Cisco, Ola, Flipkart etc are erasing smile of many of its employees and their family members. By the end of July and initial weeks of August these companies posted positive figures for the quarter result, unfortunately the lay off news also came along with the results, which are not justifiable. As per available reports Infosys is in the process of issuing warning letters for its employees. Stories from other mentioned companies are not different.
In previous year we have seen a massive layoff / RIF(resignation in force), from TCS, now a days it became regular practice that employees will be labeled as non performers and thrown out of the company. As a part of the layoff strategy disengagement of employees will be distributed geographically and also myth of non performance will be created so that affected employees will be socially isolated. Through these tactics, companies can weaken the united resistance of employees. Various IT/ITeS jobs are considered as the glamorous jobs but employees are not yet in an organized form, this provides a great freedom for the company managements to implement their arbitrary decisions on its employees.
IT/ITeS Employees Centre (ITEC) stand in solidarity with all the affected employees. ITEC asks managements to immediately put an end to these illegal layoffs. ITEC also request all IT/ITeS employees across the country to stand united against these repressive corporate measures.
